Happy Good Friday =) Made a trip to BETA 5 Chocolates the other day and got some Easter treats! BETA 5 creates artisanal chocolates, confectionary, pastries and desserts. Although located in a hidden industrial area in Vancouver (413 Industrial Ave, Vancouver BC), they are already very well known and very successful since establishing in 2011.
My first BETA 5 treat was their chocolates. The chocolates were very good with some unique flavours (e.g. Bay Leaf, Fisherman's Friend), and have won multiple awards. I absolutely loved them. When I found out they were making special Easter chocolate eggs, I just had to try!
There are a total of three different praline eggs made with 63% dark chocolates layered with either Hazelnut, Raspberry Almonds, or Pumpkin Seed :
1. Hazelnut & milk chocolate praline with crispy wafers 2. Almond, raspberry & white chocolate praline with roasted marcona almonds & dried raspberries 3. Pumpkin seed & milk chocolate praline with caramelized pumpkin seeds.
Here are the closed up pictures of the pumpkin seed (left) and the raspberry almond (right) eggs. My hubby thought they were a little bit too sweet, but I found them to be perfect snakes with Chinese oolong tea. Raspberry Almond was my favorite!

Last time I visited, I had their famous cream puffs. They were gigantic and tasted like heaven for dessert lovers. Since the last visit, I had my eyes on their dessert in a jar as well. So this time besides the praline eggs, we also got a Halzelnut + Coffee dessert in a jar. The jar consisted of dark chocolate pannacotta, whipped hazelnut praline, lemon curd, coffee & cinnamon milk jam, brown butter coffee cakes, and candied hazelnuts. Whoever thought of this combination was a genious. Everything blended so well together and it was amazing.

BETA 5 also makes these Cubic Eggs for Easter. They are truely a work of art. If you are a chocolate lover, you should give them a try =)

I would say BETA 5 isn't a very wallet-friendly place. But if you run out of gift ideas, I'm sure no one would say no to BETA 5. Also, a little BETA 5 treat for yourself once in a while is definately worth it.
Happy Easter holiday everyone=)
Love,
Emily
