I've been wanting to see the tulip fields since I found out about the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, and hubby and I finally had time to have a day trip driving down to Skagit this past weekend.

Skagit is located in Mt. Vernon, about 2hr drive from downtown Vancouver, BC. The tulip festival usually lasts the entire month of April, but blooming of the tulips depends on the tulips' own schedule sometime during the festival. We didn't know how much we would see before we went because we were already one week passed the full bloom, and of all the tulip fields in Skagit, the blooming map on the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival website showed that only RoozenGaarde still had tulips blooming. Since the weather was really nice, we decided to still make the trip.

And I was so so so glad we made the trip. Although they already cut out a lot of tulips, the remaining tulip field was still massive with rainbow colours. It was absolutely stunning!! There were still so many people lining up to go into RoozenGaarde. It was just crazy, I totally didn't expect to see such a big crowd at all!

Here are some pictures we took. Believe me, seeing the real tulip field through your own eyes is a lot more beautiful than the pictures.

Of course, any trip wouldn't have been perfect without yummy food for hubby and I. Usually, we like to try local foods or restaurant recommendations when we travel, but I imagined there probably would not be any great food near the tulip fields, so I made healthy sushi and fruit bento boxes the night before and we had a wonderful little picnic in the tulip garden =)

Sushi are best to eat fresh, but they are also very convenient for packing for picnics, especially when you need to leave early and have no time to make sandwiches or other stuff in the morning and have to pack the night before.

Overall, we had a wonderful trip. On our way back to Vancouver, we also stopped by an outlet nearby and also got some yummy treats from Trader Joes! Hopefully next year during the full bloom weekend, hubby and I won't be busy or sick like this year. We are definitely coming back again next year =)

Love,

Emily
